With the school year only days away, I feel compelled to get back into blogging mode.
Forty-six years ago teachers and parents came together to build a school. And most years since that time, teachers, administrators and parents gather the weekend before school starts to partner in getting the classrooms and campus grounds ready for the year ahead. Work Day is a great example of what makes The San Francisco School so unique.
This year was no exception - thank you to all who participated. We got so much accomplished today and the campus feels nearly ready for the students!
The work today caps off a busy summer of renovations on campus including:
- A full renovation of the North Class Preschool including new floors, ceiling, lighting and a reconfigured layout to maximize visibility. This project would not have been possible without two SFS parents, Greg Wright and Carl Scheidenhelm. In addition, I want to thank SFS parents, Bill Katz and Liza Pannozzo for also lending support to this project.
- A new roof and re-installation of solar panels. Special thanks for this project goes out to Michael Northover, SFS parent and trustee who championed this work.
- Continued progress on the Community Center Project. Special thanks to SFS parent, trustee and Project Committee Chair, Liza Pannozzo, for her effort in steering this exciting work
I am so excited for the students to arrive on Wednesday! This year, for me, feels extra special with my oldest son getting to participate in the Opening Day ceremony as a 1st grader (I am tearing up as I type...). Look forward to seeing you in the coming days and weeks.
